I beg to disagree that these organs are ineffective. It doesn’t mean that they are there for nothing.

Possibly, more studies need to be conducted to identify what these organs are for.

Have you ever thought what could have gone wrong without them?

These are vestigial organs that have become useless as we have evolved. These were useful once upon a time when we were still evolving into what we are now. Every animal has a thing or two in its body that was useful before but has become useless due to evolution for adaption.

Yes, these organs can become useful again in the future like birds that are thought to have evolved from dinosaurs have developed there forelimbs into wings. In many dinosaur species the forelimbs had become vestigial as they started 'walking' on two legs.

The definition of vestigial is: a small, functionless structure that was once well-developed in an organism's ancestors but which has been reduced during the course of evolution.
