Leader of Opposition L.K. Advani has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to accept the offer of the German government to part with information concerning some rich Indians who hold secret accounts in tax- haven Liechtenstein.

The German Government has offered to share information about the unscrupulous wealthy Indians who have deposited their unaccounted money in one of the tax havens in the world. Following the publication of the news in a section of the Indian Press, the leader of the opposition L.K. Advani has urged the Prime Minister, in a letter, to ask the German government for the free information. Some more leaders from the opposition ranks will make similar demands. Even some Congress leaders may join the chorus.

But it is a strange trade unionism among the political leaders of all shades and colours. For public consumption they will raise hue and cry over the exposed financial misdeeds of their political opponents but in private would not like to see any criminal case filed against any political leader fearing that tomorrow it may be their turn. What happened to the Bofor’s enquiry during the five-year rule of the BJP?
