Look at the fate of an educated, working girl! I bet the husband must also have belonged to educated, so called cultured and well to do family. Still, that craving for more money and the insatiable urge to exploit the girl’s family remains. It is true for most Indian males...the more educated and well placed they are, their demand rises accordingly.

Very sad incident. However, I feel an impartial investigation might reveal the true reason behind the traumatic end of Sowmya’s life. We cannot just blindly go with the allegations made by the father of Sowmya or the claims made by her husband. But one question is tingling in my mind: How at 1 am neighbor’s could hear her crying for help when within 30 minutes her husband took her body to the hospital? It is not believable that someone intending to commit suicide would cry for help. I suspect the husband is the culprit.

What can be done??? We may be all very well educated, with great family backgrounds and everything to suggest that we should be the most sophisticated people on the face of the planet...
But still we like to adhere to our ”traditions”... because we are giving away daughters, we act like we are the slaves of the groom’s family...
We may cry ourselves hoarse over how we oppose the dowry system, yet we still practically sell ourselves to provide each household item to the married couple...
Now this is a practice I just understand...
Are we marrying off our daughters to beggars and paupers who don’t already have furniture and appliances in their house???
Even if the couple has to live in a separate home of their own, cant they buy their own furniture since most newly weds these days have at least 5 years of work behind them???
And what about the groom’s family??
Why cant they pitch in with getting the newly weds started off in life???
Why is it solely the responsibility of the girl’s family??? As long as we stick to these antiquated practices, we seriously are never gonna get rid of these dowry deaths!!!

Why can’t a well-educated earning girl walk out of an abusive husband? If she had, mabye she would have been alive today

Before marrying off our daughters we need to enquire about the credentials of the boy and his family. If necessary a private detective will do this job for a small fee. It is worth the trouble
