I oppose this too Kumar.. Radiohead allowed fans to download their latest album In Rainbow for free from their official website, or they had the choice of paying what they thought was appropriate. That should be an example for the music industry that they cannot fight the internet.

Well I do too Sharmila and it is rather depressing to know that you could be doing something illegal and it is ridiculous to arrest people for 6 months because they download music. I do it on the PC too. Most of the international music isn’t released in India. So many have to download off the net.

Thats what! now how am i supposed to find a CD that has ’you drive me crazy’ by shakin Steavens...so i google it n get it :) simple. Its shocking to know what im doing is as ’dangerous’ as driving drunk :P damn! but its reassuring to know that there are others who do it too!

The same thing happens here. The record labels will start campaigns saying that whoever makes these downloads is ordered to go to hell.

Should we stop listening to the songs of which we like? Or buy imported CDs that, besides being difficult to be found, cost 3 times more than the ”national”?

We don’t even get those imported CDs! For example I really like PJ Harvey, but none of her CDs are released here, so you have no option but to download it off net. I wonder if it is illegal to download music that is not released in your country..

I think the headache of legality should lie with people who put the music on Net for free downloads rather than users and music lovers.

I download stuff all the time. Wonder if I should have confessed it :P

I don’t know, yeah there are the pricing considerations and the availability (or lack of it) too, but it is so much simpler to dwnload as well.

The Artists themselves should go in for more online releases that are cheaper to access. That way they get the revenue and we get the music. No need for transgressions then. Of course there will always be some freeloaders.
