Pakistan press on official clock by one hour to preserve energy

Pakistan will advance the official clock by one hour at the stroke of midnight Saturday to use more daylight time in a bid to conserve energy, the interior ministry said.

I can’t say with certainty how much this move will help Pakistan but it can certainly save a lot of energy for a country like India, which has a vast east - west extent. The difference in local time between the N.E. States and Gujarat is about 2 hours, which means that while people in the western states are preparing dinner, folks in the N.E. States are fast asleep. Dividing the country into two time zones can help save up huge amount of energy.
