Women have stronger expression whereas men can be better suited to analysis and number crunching, a result of being more task oriented.

im no scientists but from what i’ve noticed, females are more communicative and expressive than males and thats probably why linguistic skills are better developed in females. Also it may have something to do with the fact that different parts of the brain are more functional in each gender

Flippant with tongue, over expressive sometimes, and pretentious communication barring a few occasions- sum up Superior speech abilities of females. If you say, males don’t possess such qualities, we are content in being inexpressive, dumb, and more practical.

it would be wrong to generalize women as being ”over-expressive”, ”flippant” and ”pretentious”. Its a scientific fact that means of communication differs between genders- there’s absolutely no need to get worked up about it. just like women are good at searching out stuff and organisation, men are better at driving and sports (with exceptions on both sides)—see, we both hold our own fortes

Such research can’t define the said ability and in now way can proclaim that girls are better than boys in language tasks. This research has been done on just a handful of boys and girls, hence this can’t be true for the entire lot. True, that at some point girls may be better but certainly not always. Had this research been any thumb rule than how come there are more males in the world who are better equipped when it comes to excelling in a particular language. I wouldn’t be surprised if this research has been supervised by a female. Phew!

Yes! I have noticed several times that Girls are better in grasping the Word as compared to Boys. Certainly girls can learn language quickly and efficiently.

Sorry if Desh has taken umbrage in this over generalization, but it is after all a known fact that females tend to do better in verbal activities, of course there are exceptions but as they say exceptions only prove the rule.

That truley speaks about my experiences so far.

Girls can be labelled dumb when it comes to analysis/stats etc and so goes for boys in case of verbal skills. It’s just a generalised statement, nothing that’ll apply to all.

Parul, every research is like that only. No1 can go around the globe and collect accurate data about anything.

Result of any Research is (and can never be) accurate but these results are good enough to give us the idea about the question in lime light.

I agree to disgree on this issue because i feel initial schooling and assistance goes a long way to enable an individual be a good speaker, or even have good language skills. In my humble opinion, i feel that expressing always remains left to the individual’s ability and inclination towards it. Furthermore, i believe that all these so called studies keep sensationalising and generalizing different aspects and usually take very small sample sizes to actually arrive at a conclusion, which just doesn’t cut the ice for me as far as credibility goes.

Jay, Researches seriously are not something that one must take seriously.

But being from a co-ed school , i have noticed that usually girls are better when it came to speech abilities.

But i’ll go on to say that best ones in my school were guys. I mean that percentage of girls with better speech abilites was higher than boys. though girls were outnumbered in my school.

I regard women for their other qualities more than being very impressive speakers. To me, men are no way less in exhibiting above debated attribute. As far as this research is concerned, I, LITERALLY, am neither impressed nor do I second such an analysis. Individual point of view, you know.

We all are talking about our own experiences (alteast I am) so if we have different opinions then there’s nothing wrong with it.

Different people different lives results in totally different experiences :D
