Why more women are turning to cyber sex? The news does not provide any answer to this question. But I want to ask what makes them turn to this?

Is it because more and more women are feeling lonely these days? I feel there must be lack of love or romance in their lives. Women in 20s are more involved, that I understand, because in this age one may not have any such experience, but inquisitive to know more. A virtual sex relation may give some enjoyment.

But women at 50s come next. That means certainly there is something wrong. It’s not for mere enjoyment, but for fulfillment of something lost. And Aussie women are more involved than others- 1 in 5? That’s too much really!!!

When a woman has cybersex she is usually attached to the cyber partner she is having cyber sex with. Women fantasise more than men and can get aroused reading a mushy novel where as men by seeing graphics or videos that might not necessarily arouse females. Therefore it is quite likely that those women are lonely and need some support emotionally.

Come on guys. I guess cyber sex is a thing of the past. Despite the huge growth in Internet users around the world in the last ten years we are seeing lesser and lesser people in chatrooms like Yahoo etc. Cyber sex after a certain period gets boring.

Any woman who had been a regular internet users and chatroom visitor or IM user have had cybersex at some point of time indulged in cybersex or will eventually end up having cybersex in the future. It includes having cybersex with their regular real life partners or strangers or someone they know but have not had real sex with.

@ Brajesh...don’t sound so judgemental...how can you pass a comment about all the women who are regular internet users to have had cyber sex at some point of time? Take a survey and see...you will be surprised at the results.
At the same time, I completely agree with Nishi’s viewpoint...”if men can indulge in it why not women”?

There is a saying that goes something like this - "Boys just wanna have sex, girls just wanna have sex." Cyber sex is only fun and no sex.

Fun? Why?

You don't know whom you are having 'sex' with. It can be a be anything from a man, a woman, a shemale or just a bot! Now you know why women love cybering.

For the 20s women, maybe because cyber sex does not involve unwanted pregnancies and abortion hassles.

And for the golden ones (the 50+ lot), I think its because cyber sex does not demand too much of physical activity. Active fingers are all that one needs here (to type your emotions).

I’m sure there are a number of ’golden men’ too, who can’t take much physical activity and Active fingers can do the job. However, I think cybersex is a good way to pass time on a boring Sunday afternoon.

For the 20s women.. They can avoid unwanted STDs too!!

Well, I do agree with those active fingers put to a better use to avoid STDs and unwanted pregnancies (typing your views to create an awareness). I’m sure there would be so many contraceptive measures seeking to enter here on this topic here.

Reshmi, it is not a question of generalizing. Of course aberrations are there. Many such surveys have suggested that more women have or had cyber sex than men. Though I understand you are a woman and might have felt awkward, there is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about.

Its not about men & woman indulgence. Its about freedom, expression and privacy. You can express anything over the net, which you may hesitate doing in real life.
If you hapen to see a beautiful girl in the market or at your workplace. You hestitae to appreciate her beauty but in the virtual world its all possible. without bothering for her reaction and attention you just express your feelings.
