The world needs to invest $45 trillion in energy in coming decades, build some 1,400 nuclear power plants and vastly expand wind power in order to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, according to an energy study released Friday

Considering that world’s military expenditure for 2007 alone stood at $1.2 trillion, the $45 trillion bill for combating global warming doesnt seem so ungodly... if we can spend that much every year on devleoping technologies to kill each other, we should be able to cough up the greenbacks needed for the planet to survive... these statistics really make you wonder what is more important for our policymakers- a greener, cleaner, safer future for the masses or the gazzilion bucks they get to make via profitable arms deals??

The numbers are quite big and the task seems way too mammoth. But, if we can spend millions on mansions,desires and so-called luxurious needs and then billions on ”defence” and military needs, we can certainly try to make this magical figure come into existence. Such a big investment would be a tough task for every participant nation, but then it will be good investment in the long run since we are moving our efforts towards establishing a safe and more secure healthy future for our coming generations.

Why do we keep on forecasting huge amounts and unattainable projects? This is tantamount to say that the climate change problem can not be solved. I think what we need now is to lay down the cards on what can be done now instead of talking things in the clouds and not starting what can be made.
Each country should act within its means and use some funds of its national budget to combat global warming. The waste disposal system should be properly implemented. Planting of new trees in public lands and strengthening of recycling activities must be imposed. These are startup projects that we need to focus on.
