whats going on in goa its the second case within month is govt. authorities sleeping out there, why a woman will report in national capital,is the police out there helping the crooks out there, one thing is sure that these type of incidents will haper the tourist industry in state.

Goa, which once considered as paradise on earth, is fast becoming a highly dangerous place to venture. The recent spate of crime, particularly against foreign tourists, is really alarming. The need of the hour is to curb the crime or Goa would disappear from tourists’ itinerary.

Recent rape cases of Women and Girls in Goa proves that Goa is now not a safe tourist place for the domestic and foreign tourists.

Goa has become death place for tourists, particularly tourists from Britain. I was planning to tour Goa this winter but I am seriously thinking to drop the plan now. Mauritius or Maldive are other better options for me.

Yes Sharleen, Goa is not now safe for tourists specially female tourists. I visited Goa beaches many times and felt every time that the situation worse than previous time. The beaches of Calangute, Baga, Vagator, Anguna are not safe for foreign women because Goa has turned into a heaven for Drug peddlers. You can find them but not any one from local police on beaches.

Rape and murder happening in Goa is not good for India's image in rest of the world. The police administration should work to protect the tourists not to hide or destroy the evidences. In other tourist destination in South Asia, we can rely on the law and order but not in Goa.

@ Sharleen and Melisa, Tell me which place is safe for females to walk on the beach in the early hours. You people expect everything in the same way as you find in your country, this is wrong. If you ask me I would say that I feel safe walking the streets in Goa then walking on several housing estates in England. It can happen anywhere, all we need to cooperate with local authority to know about the safety of the places before going there.

@ Julie, Goa was the single place where I was offered drugs by a minor. You may be right that England is not so safe for women but the British police are not corrupt. They don't take bribe just to complete their duty.

One of my friend runs a travel agency in Kuala Lumpur and he recently stopped booking trips to Goa from Malaysia because he received reports of cheating and harassment from their regular clients they faced in Goa. Right from the taxi drivers, to the hotel boys, to guides and shopkeepers, everyone was always ready to cheat them. They didn't visit all the places they had planned and returned to country.

This is one shameful event and i feel even more anxious once coming across all the global comments that my friends from abroad have made in this context. This is truely the wrong image of india and indian courtesy they are getting. Something needs to be done and real fast or else we will loose our respectable status never to win it again this time!

this is a problem that is repeating just too often. The only way to restore a semblance of law and order in Goa is by taking whoever is responsible to task and making sure that the goan police do their duty the right way.

@farheen please don’t blame the entire goan populace as such. Afaik they are a bunch of very friendly people and the real culprits are a few bad elements, the likes of whom will be found in every other place, anywhere in the world.

my target is not the goan people but the few, those who intend to commit such crimes, those who do not think twice that the satisfaction of personal libido can compromise the image of the country.
